yoga teacher team member Aisha Nash

Aisha Nash

Yoga Teacher

All her life, Aisha Nash has been fascinated by the human body, anatomy and what it means to be well – she takes this curiosity into every Yoga class she teaches.

At the age of 19, she studied for her degree in Biology, and then trained to be a pastry chef – you would’ve had to be there to connect the dots.

After a few years of the high stress environment that is London based Michelin starred kitchens, Aisha burnt out, and left. She’d planned to leave for a short while, but it ended up being for good.

Her body was physically wrecked and still carries whispers of the pain that was so bad she left her dream job.

Knowing about Yoga her entire life, she went back to  its ancient wisdom, and rehabilitated not just her body, but also her mind, using the physical practice to provide gentle movement for her body and the philosophy to restart her life.

This then led her down the rabbit hole that Yoga teacher training tends to be. She took her first one in March 2016, and has completed a further 10 since, specialising in Trauma informed Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Mindfulness.

Now coming up to being a teacher for 5 years, she teaches a Yoga approach that is loosely based on the framework of Intuitive Movement, that focuses primarily on the philosophical tenets of Yoga, and is free from any influence of Diet Culture.

Your dream travel destination? Fiji, I love beaches.

Ultimate weekend plans? Take the Eurostar to Paris and spend the weekend going to my favourite patisseries.

Dream dinner guest? It sounds really basic, but my husband. He enjoys good food as much as I do, and it’s such a joy to eat with someone that enjoys food.

Favourite dessert? Sticky toffee pudding from Flat Iron.

A song you can’t not dance to? I wanna dance with somebody by Whitney Houston.

Hidden talent? I make gremlin noises. Really good ones.

yoga teacher team member bex

Bex Parker Smith

Yoga Teacher

Bex has always been drawn to movement, having danced from a young age. But on developing an eating disorder in her early teens, she began to see movement at best; a way to deserve food and at worst; a punishment. It wasn’t until years later, in 2016, on stumbling into a yoga studio that she rediscovered the simple joy of movement. Bex fell in love with how time on the mat offered something beyond exercise and it was there she finally began to feel at home in her body again.

A steady companion to her bulimia recovery, Bex experienced first-hand how the yoga practice nurtures our relationship with self, so set out to share the practice with others too. She undertook her first yoga teacher training in 2019 and now has over 400 hours’ worth of yogic study under her belt, including Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Pre & Post Natal Yoga, Mandala Vinyasa and Rocket.

To this day, Bex remains a dedicated student of yoga and sees her time on the mat like an arrival home.

Your dream travel destination? Kefalonia in Greece! It’s my spiritual home and I am always counting down the minutes until I can get back there.

Ultimate weekend plans? I teach on the weekends, so when I do have them off, I love a lazy Sunday morning in bed reading The Times magazines with a mug of coffee before heading to London Fields Lido for a paddle. Then maybe I’ll make pancakes or head out for brunch with my boyfriend to somewhere like Dishoom or Carvan, before a lovely long walk in Victoria Park and ending the evening on the sofa with Rolo (my cat!).

Dream dinner guest? Dame Maggie Smith. She’s just brilliant.

Favourite dessert? Ladurée Macarons – specifically the lemon and raspberry ones. They’re a little expensive so I only get them every so often, but when I do, I eat the entire box (of 12) pretty much in one sitting…

A song you can’t not dance to?  I’m Outta Love by Anastasia. Anything by Abba. Motown Gold.

Hidden talent?  Performing! My Grandad was a singer at the Sydney Opera House and I inherited his lungs, as well as some itchy dancers’ feet. I even performed in professional musical theatre across the UK until I was 18, though, you’re more likely to hear me belting in the shower than on a stage nowadays!
